For my friend Kim’s birthday, we cloistered ourselves at her family’s cabin at Deep Creek Lake. One of the weekend’s activities was Lostland Run Trail in the Potomac State Forest, a 7 miles jaunt down to the north branch of the Potomac River and back up. We stopped at a wine and cheese shop on the way to the trailhead, which should give you an idea of how the day went. The descent was lovely, but we were all exhausted when we got to the Potomac, so we walked back up the road that parallels the trail. There were fun bouncy suspension bridges!

Possibly more than one.
Captain Midnight’s nose on the road.
When we got down to the Potomac, the cheese and wine was consumed
Captain Midnight was so tired he laid down on the rocks. Frankly, everyone was so tired they laid down on the rocks.
Cahill’s Irish porter was voted Best Cheese of the Hike.
